As I've said before on the blog, I love Halloween.
We enjoy making cute & scary foods + Little Miss is so creative coming up with costume ideas each year.
School lunch is always a fun way for us to "celebrate the spookiness" with creative touches - by use of colors, foods, picks, and cookie cutters to take it up a notch.
Here's one of our recent Halloween lunches {gluten free & allergy friendly}:

What are you {thankful} for?
What are you {thankful} for?
When I first started to think of this question, all the funny things came to mind. For Little Miss it would probably be bacon, beef jerky, barbies, "girl legos", and junior mints. lol
What about me? Well, at first, I chuckle thinking of Starbucks, sleep, my iPhone, and Shamrock Shakes. You know the necessities. ;)
As I started thinking of how to translate those things I am {thankful} for into a lunch, my mind kept coming back to one in particular I made for Little Miss last year. It pretty much sums up the real thankfulness in my heart.

Lunch Made Easy: Happy "Talk Like A Pirate Day" Matey!
Blimey Mates!
It's "Talk Like A Pirate Day"!

When I first told Little Miss it was "Talk Like A Pirate Day" on Wednesday and that we'd be doing a special lunch to celebrate, she immediately screamed out "Bucanners! Bucaneers!" I'm not kidding when I say our family is NFL obsessed, she wanted the Tampa Bay Bucaneers in her school lunch box, lol.
The reason *she* loves the Bucaneers so much is because of a joke the fella told her which has now become her absolute favorite and is repeated whenever she sees them playing on TV.
How much does a pirate charge for corn?
A BUCK-AN-EAR! Get it? Buck-an-ear... Bucaneer. ;)

Lunch Made Easy: Let Freedom Ring!
When my fellow bento bloggers decided to do a Fourth of July/ Patriotic Hop, the first thing I thought of was Martina McBride. You know the song... "Independence Day" (yeah, I went there - can you believe that song is almost 10 years old!? EEK! I love it still. Always will. The video too.)
Anyways, even though the song has a different meaning behind it, I love when she belts out "Let Freedom Ring!" and so that lead me to this lunch creation: The Liberty Bell.

Lunch Made Easy: May the 4th be with you!
I wish I could put some cool Star Wars scrolling text here for my intro. lol
Friday is May the 4th. Better known as Star Wars Day!
I had originally planned to do a Cinco de Mayo themed lunch for Friday, but after my fellow bento bloggers wanted to do a hop for Star Wars, I decided to let Little Miss choose.
I was certain she would choose Cinco de Mayo, being that we just went to Mexico in February and she loves taking Spanish in school... to my surprise she excitedly answered "Star Wars!"
Her reason: "All da boys play Star Wars at recess... and I love playing with the Yoda doll Nana has at her house. I want Yoda, I want Yoda!" And so, it was decided.

Lunch Made Easy: Luck of the Irish
Saint Patrick is the most well known patron saint of Ireland.
St. Patrick's Day (basically) commemorates him and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century but has become a celebration of Irish culture in general.
Keeley (meaning beautiful in Gaelic) was given to me not only because of our Irish heritage but because I was born right in between the Ides of March and St. Patrick's Day (on the 16th - this Friday). I also was given our family name that moved to the States from Ireland as my middle name (McGuire).
My Irish ancestry is something I cherish and love sharing with my daughter.
My bento blogger friends and I are doing a St. Patty's Day blog hop today ~ Rather then waiting until the end of the week, we figured share ideas now so that y'all can use them! Right?! :)
I'm really excited to see every one's work.
