SunButter & Jelly French Toast Sandwiches {Egg Free #Recipe}

SunButter & Jelly French Toast Sandwiches are a fun treat for kids for breakfast or lunches! This recipe is allergen-friendly & egg-free, depending on the brand of bread you use.

Making french toast for breakfast is always a fun change-up in our household. We are typically a pancake or eggs kind of family.

However, I always challenge myself to make things as allergen-friendly (and gluten free) as possible when I'm working on new recipes or ideas to share here.

Years ago, I was playing around with my own recipe for egg-free/ dairy-free apple cinnamon french toast. I decided to circle back around and find a way to amp that up + make a fun recipe that could be used for both breakfast or lunches!

Lunch Made Easy: Thanksgiving Bento for My Little Turkey

Life has been so incredibly busy (and great) lately that Thanksgiving completely snuck up on me!

While at the Food Allergy Bloggers Conference the weekend before last (#FABlogCon), I was talking to Allison of Allie's GF Goodies and she made mention of needing to get back right after the conference to begin all her Thanksgiving baking. I must have given her a funny look, because she then went on and said "uh yeah, Thanksgiving is a week and half away!" *begins fanning self* How did that happen? Wasn't it *just* Halloween?? Oy.

Anyways, since I got back it's been work work work and in my spare time planning for the big Turkey day for my little family. However, I couldn't let the year go by without some Thanksgiving lunch box fun!

Lunch Made Easy: Cupcake Surprise! {Happy Birthday Little Miss}

I can't believe my baby girl is ten years old today.
People have said since the day she was born, cherish each moment... they go by quick! Man, they weren't kidding. How did ten years happen so fast?
I remember her learning to crawl, learning to spell her name, mispronouncing words, her first day of school, her first lost tooth... and now she's ten?!

Excuse me while I curl up at my desk and cry.

When Little Miss' birthday falls during the school week, I always try to make her a special breakfast and/or lunch to celebrate. Today, I packed her a fun cupcake surprise!

Happy Birthday to my baby girl!

They were kind enough to send us one of their adorable dishware items to review and giveaway choice to our readers!

{Christmas Countdown} Advent Lunches 2014: Week 1

This week kicked off our yearly holiday tradition of #AdventLunches! Each year, I make Little Miss holiday theme lunches with a Christmas Countdown. I include the countdown number somewhere in the lunch, either written on a Lunchbox Love Note or made into a cute food item within the lunch itself. She looks forward to it every year!

Here's what we packed for week one of 2014:

Lunch Made Easy: Halloween Ideas for Kids

'Twas the week of Halloween, as the children prepared.
Costumes and buckets and goodies to share.
There were scary ghoblins and spooky ghosts,
but the tiny princesses were eager most.
Going door to door, teal pumpkins in sight.
Clinching each other hands, in fear of a fright!

Lunch Made Easy: Back to School Bus!

Do you subscribe to Parents Magazine
If so, you might have read the great article in the September 2014 issue about Food Allergies in Schools. If you don't have the hard copy, you can read the article online by clicking here

I was honored to be interviewed for the article and share a few personal experiences dealing with food allergies at school for my Little Miss.

While checking out the issue, there was a snippet inside for Family Fun Magazine and their Treat of the Month which happened to be a fun school bus lunch for back-to-school called "Miles of Smiles". I couldn't think of a more fun way to celebrate Little Miss' first full day of the new school year than with an extra special school bento lunch!

Lunch Made Easy: Mater Sandwich from Disney Cars Movie

If you follow along with us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram the school lunches Little Miss has had so far this week have been simple & quick fix.

Since Wednesday is her last full day of school for third grade, I figured we'd go out with a BANG and do something fun!

If you've been following us for a while, you know that just because school ends that doesn't mean packed lunches end. We pack all year! Food allergies & intolerance's don't go away just because it's summer break. So make sure to keep checking back for summer time ideas & recipes, as well.

Does this guy look familiar?
Name's Mater. Like tuh-mater, but without the "tuh".

Yup. Git-R-Done! It's Mater from Disney Pixars Cars Movie. Although, no lie, the fella guessed it was a cow. *sigh, men!*

Lunch Made Easy: @VansFoods Blueberry Waffle & @SunButter Stick Sandwiches

It's funny... Little Miss can still be so finicky and picky about foods. Some things, I'm glad she dislikes and other things I just shake my head at.

Just a couple examples -
Glad about: She does not like soda, at all.
Glad about: She does not like koolaids or sweet sugary juices, at all.

Shake my head: She does not like toast, but will eat toasted/ grilled sandwiches.
Shake my head: She will only eat waffles if I make them "dippable", covered in something, or turned into a sandwich.

Being that I love the occasional waffle, especially blueberry, I'm thankful for Van's Gluten Free waffles since they are dairy, egg, tree nut, peanut, and corn free. I can keep them in the freezer and get my fix when needed. ;) They also make great lunch options for kids too!

{Christmas Countdown} Advent Lunches: Only 23 Days!

Two years ago, I began doing a Christmas countdown in Little Miss' lunches by noting the days left inside.

It's become tradition now to do our "Advent Lunches" - She loves knowing how many days there are until Christmas and telling her friends, as well. I begin it each year as her school lunches start up for the month of December.

Click on the colored text above to scroll through our past years of countdown lunches.

We started off this year with some fun sandwiches, made into little toy soldiers.

Lunch Made Easy: Turkey Sandwich ~ Gobble Gobble!

Little Miss' class is taking a field trip today to the nature center. They have homes and scenes setup reminiscent of those during the first Thanksgiving.

Her school lunch didn't need to be disposable for this but with a field trip you never quite know what you're getting into so I packed her lunch in one of our old Ziploc divided lunch containers. No way am I putting an EasyLunchboxes container at risk! lol *my precious*

Lunch Made Easy: Sandwich on a Stick

Little Miss loves when I get my Starbucks fix because she knows the stoppers/ stir sticks are saved for her food as picks! (Thanks MOMables for this fabulous idea!)
Today, we kept this school lunch simple by using them to make "Sandwiches on Sticks" ~ Using our Udi's Gluten, Nut, Dairy, & Soy Free Bread:

Lunch Made Easy: MOMables Monday - "Silly Batty Sandwich" {Simple Halloween Lunch Box Fun}

Halloween is approaching fast, only two more days to be exact.
Goblins and ghouls, candy and treats.
Checking out the costumes of everyone you meet!
You don't need to get super detailed or spend a lot of time adding a few fun Halloween touches to your kid's school lunch box.
Thanks the MOMables, the sandwich is a breeze so all I had to do was add a fun piece of cheese!

Lunch Made Easy: MOMables Monday - I Love Bacon!

The great thing about MOMables School Lunch Menus is that it can spark an idea or a plan. You don't have to follow them exactly as pictured, but it can help for those days you're staring at an empty lunch container wondering what to do...
That's exactly how this "I Love Bacon!" lunch box came about! This lunch is gluten, peanut, & tree nut free.

She turns seven tomorrow. *sniff sniff*
That's right... Friday is Little Miss' BIRTHDAY!!!
She is so stinkin' excited too. Proclaiming to everyone, all day today, that it was her very last day being six.
Her very last day going to school, her very last dinner, and her very last sleep being six. lol
Like years past, I alway try to have a *little* fun with her school lunch on her birthday too. :)
