Lunch Made Easy: Fat Tuesday! (Mardi Gras)

Hehe, I'm such a dork - I have seriously been waiting to do this lunch... One of those things where you get a small idea in your head and it just grows from there. :)

Lunch is inspired by a Mardi Gras mask - thus the shape of the sandwich.

On top of Little Miss's SunButter sandwich is a cheese mask, colored with my Betty Crock Easy Writer pens and decorated with these awesome shaped sprinkles my sister bought for me (thanks Ash!!!) A dab of honey acts like "glue" to hold the sprinkles on.

Under the sandwich is dry slaw mix (cabbage, carrots, etc) I thought it looked like confetti!

I also gave her a candy bracelt, candy ring, and a small pack of sixlets (peanut free btw) - reminding me of the jewels and beads for Mardi Gras (but kid appropriate, lol).

In keeping with the NOLA theme too, the top left compartments has some popcorn shrimp pieces (one of Little Miss's favorite things on the planet now).

Top right are green and red seedless grapes with two triangular picks, in keeping with the color theme and fun.

Lunch is packed in an EasyLunchBoxes container.

Stay tuned... I have a cheater Kings Cake I'm going to share next, hehe(I can smell it from my computer, YUMMO!)

  2. That's awesome Keeley! So festive! Is that for home or does her school not mind candy?

  3. are you kidding? i'm the only parent that doesn't load their kid up with sweets/ candy, I swear! LOL ;)

they don't mind it in small doses. I don't send it every day, obviously, so her teacher won't mind - she gets a kick out of Little Miss's lunches. She said one day her teacher took pictures of her lunch so she could show her friend she loved it so much.

  4. That's so cute :)
Yeah, I hadn't seen you put that many sweets i before - a couple of mini chocolates at the holidays, the odd marshmallow, that's why I wondered. Remember when my Beanstalk's teacher thought his lunch wasn't healthy enough because he had a brownie? and tried to make him eat carrots? I don't dare send candy now! Heheh.

The candy also made me think of that recent news item about the school that took away the "unhealthy" turkey sandwich lunch and gave the child chicken nuggets instead - I imagined the trouble a school would be in if they did that with one of your little miss' lunches!
