You probably have all the ingredients already ~ Check it out!
Ingredients
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 large egg
1 1/2 t baking soda
3/4 t nutmeg
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t kosher salt
1 1/2 cups of applesauce
1 t of pure vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, first blend together the butter, egg, & sugar.
Then add the flour, baking soda, spices, & salt.
After it starts to from a crumbly dough, pour in the applesauce and mix together.
I used two small loaf pans, pouring mixture evenly into both. I sprayed my pans with cooking spray first or you could use parchment paper, depending on the dish you choose to bake them in.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
Ooo the smell soooo good!!
They came out perfectly moist with just the right amount of spice!

I added a little butter ontop for some sweetness, because "everythings better with buddah!"
(I like to say that with my very best Paula Dean impression) :)
YUM YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh that looks so delicious!! I know what I am making with some of the applesauce I just made :D
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy and I have everything to make it! Thanks for sharing it---I'm pinning it.
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! I could go for a hot from the oven piece right about now! Thanks for sharing on TGIF!
ReplyDeleteBeth =-)
It really was delicious and so simple!
ReplyDeleteI kept one loaf at home and shared the other with my office. Big hit! :)
Thanks everyone for your feedback!!
Say WHAT! This look AWESOME!! We just finished off a loaf of pumpkin bread....this will be next on the docket!
ReplyDeleteGo for it, Corey!
ReplyDeleteIt was super easy & yummy. It stayed moist all week too, which was the best part. I just had to keep myself from eating it all so I was trying to send it to work, with the BF, and Little Miss as much as possible. lol ;)
Butter really does make everything better :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you via Tasty Thursdays & gave you a follow!
ReplyDeleteThis recipe looks fantastic - I love cooking with applesauce.

Awesome recipe, that looks absolutely delicious.
ReplyDeleteI just put mine in the oven and waiting for it now!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love the smell when it bakes :)
DeleteThis is some of the BEST bread I've ever had! My family LOVES it! Thank you!
DeleteAWESOME! So glad to hear that! It *never* lasts long in our house. :)
Deleteon the recipe you just put a (t) by the ingredients...was this for Tsp? or Tbsp?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion! Little t is teaspoon :)
DeleteI just made it and it was so delicious! I'm taking it to work tomorrow. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI ended up having to bake mine for at least an additional 10 mins. Not sure if my oven just isn't heating to its full temp, though.
ReplyDeleteOven temps do vary. It can also depend on the pan that you're using. Thanks for the note!
DeleteI am going to try this tonight!! Quick question...after baking and cooled off, do you store in fridge or room temp in a sealed container? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI store ours in a sealed container at room temp. Thanks!
DeleteIm new to baking, so im a lil confused on the rules of flour.. Do we use all purpose flour or self rising.. I know it may seem like a silly question
ReplyDeleteAll purpose is all you need :)
DeleteLooks so good! im about to start making some to put in our bake sale for our kids church fundraising tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to make this. I may make it tomorrow to share with my family. Thank you for the recipe. I love fall, this is the time when I pull out all my bread recipes. I have killer zucchini bread that my kids love and they have no idea they are eating zucchini. Sooo good.
ReplyDeleteOoo yum! We love zucchini bread too!
DeleteCheck out this recipe I did for MOMables.com ~ Chocolate Chips Zucchini Muffins: http://momables.com/dap/a/?a=313&p=www.momables.com/gluten-nut-free-mini-chocolate-chip-zucchini-muffins/
Found your recipe on Pinterest and love it! I made mine in a muffin tin with paper liners (350 for 25 min) and they turned out awesome! Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, thank you!! We've done them in muffin form before too - great for lunches that way! :)
DeleteWhen you say "small" loaf pans, do you mean "mini"?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion - not 'mini' and it's been so long I apologize for not remembering the exact measurements. One batch should fill one normal bread loaf pan - I just divided it amongst two in the photos. Hope that helps!
DeleteI made this and it was great. I just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing this recipe.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that, Renee!! Thanks for the feedback. :)
DeleteWe went GF the beginning of the year, and this was my first foray into GF baking. I was so pleased to see a pretty simplistic recipe in which I didn't have to go out and spend a lot of money to buy ingredients for this one recipe...as a matter of fact, I had everything on hand! It came together in less than 10 minutes and we were salivating waiting for it to come out of the oven and then cool.
ReplyDeleteIt was moist and tender and everyone loved it...our 19month old clammored for more!!!
THANK YOU!!!!
God's blessings..
Laurie
That is everything we love about this bread too!
DeleteThank you Laurie for your kind comments!! Made my day. :) Glad y'all loved the bread so much and thank you for taking the time to let me know!
Keeley, I saw this recipe on Pinterest, so I am making heart-shaped muffins for my grandson's preschool teachers and staff at his school Thursday, along with other sweet treats. I just have to say that they are so moist and perfect that I had to post them on my blog. I gave you full credit and post your link and original recipe, linking back to your blog. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe! Here's my post: http://www.eyeforthebuyandthepie.com/2013/02/youre-apple-of-my-eye-valentine.html
ReplyDeleteI hope it's okay to use your recipe-please let me know if you okay this, and if not, I'll be happy to remove it. Thanks again!
Just made this with the help of my two-year-old (she's an excellent pour-er), it's in the oven now. Hopefully putting it all in one loaf pan will be okay, we just had the one. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteat what point to you add the vanilla?
ReplyDeleteOH MY, good catch! I usually add mine with the applesauce. Thanks!!
DeleteDo you bake it any longer for full size loaf pan?
ReplyDeleteI just saw your bread picture and recipe on FB. Thanks to your name on the picture, I was able to track down your original post to pin. I have canned 39 quarts of applesauce so far this fall. So I'll have plenty of applesauce to make this with. lol
ReplyDeleteNo baking powder? Strange, I thought I had forgotten it.
ReplyDeleteLove this, it was so yummy! I didn't have small pans, so I just did one regular sized bread pan. I baked it for 60min and it turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI made this tonight (I was unexpectedly out of nutmeg so I substituted with Pumpkin pie spice) and my almost 14 yr old son said "Please make more things like this!" It was delectable.
ReplyDeleteCan i use unsweetened applesauce?
ReplyDeleteI made this today and my roommates are already asking me to make it again! It's delicious! I didn't add nutmeg and substituted unsweetened applesauce and it came out great! I just featured it on my blog, http://bigcitydreamsbyabby.blogspot.com/2013/11/applesauce-bread.html so I'd love if you checked it out! Thanks so much for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteRecipe is very tasty! FYI, instructions don't include vanilla, so don't forget it!
ReplyDeleteWe stumbled over here different web address and thought I might as well check things out.
ReplyDeleteI like what I see so now i am following you.
Look forward to looking over your web page
repeatedly.
I made this with pearsauce and it was exceptional! Thanks for an awesome recipe! =)
ReplyDeleteI finally got around to making this recipe that I pinned on Pinterest a long time ago! It turned out great! Thanks for sharing it. I used 2 round 8 inch cake pans- which were the perfect size. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo you use white sugar or brown sugar? Yum!

ReplyDeleteExcellent with homemade apple butter and pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon. Used an extra egg and an 8 x 8 glass pan 40 min. Seriously delicious and will make many more times. Thank you !!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, you sure do know how to make a girl hungry! These look DELICIOUS!
ReplyDeleteSo moist, I made it in a ceramic loaf pan, had to leave it in an additional 20 min, but it came out perfect. I will definitely m add make this again. Thank you!
