Food for Thought: Applesauce Bread

This is so simple to make and smelled so delicious as it baked!
You probably have all the ingredients already ~ Check it out!


 





Ingredients
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 large egg
1 1/2 t baking soda
3/4 t nutmeg
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t kosher salt
1 1/2 cups of applesauce
1 t of pure vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, first blend together the butter, egg, & sugar.
Then add the flour, baking soda, spices, & salt.
After it starts to from a crumbly dough, pour in the applesauce and mix together.



I used two small loaf pans, pouring mixture evenly into both.
I sprayed my pans with cooking spray first or you could use parchment paper, depending on the dish you choose to bake them in.


Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Ooo the smell soooo good!!

They came out perfectly moist with just the right amount of spice!

I added a little butter ontop for some sweetness, because "everythings better with buddah!"

    It was super easy & yummy. It stayed moist all week too, which was the best part. I just had to keep myself from eating it all so I was trying to send it to work, with the BF, and Little Miss as much as possible. lol ;)

  13. I ended up having to bake mine for at least an additional 10 mins. Not sure if my oven just isn't heating to its full temp, though.

  15. Im new to baking, so im a lil confused on the rules of flour.. Do we use all purpose flour or self rising.. I know it may seem like a silly question

  17. I can't wait to make this. I may make it tomorrow to share with my family. Thank you for the recipe. I love fall, this is the time when I pull out all my bread recipes. I have killer zucchini bread that my kids love and they have no idea they are eating zucchini. Sooo good.

  18. Found your recipe on Pinterest and love it! I made mine in a muffin tin with paper liners (350 for 25 min) and they turned out awesome! Thanks for the recipe!

  19. When you say "small" loaf pans, do you mean "mini"?

    1. Sorry for the confusion - not 'mini' and it's been so long I apologize for not remembering the exact measurements. One batch should fill one normal bread loaf pan - I just divided it amongst two in the photos. Hope that helps!

  21. We went GF the beginning of the year, and this was my first foray into GF baking. I was so pleased to see a pretty simplistic recipe in which I didn't have to go out and spend a lot of money to buy ingredients for this one recipe...as a matter of fact, I had everything on hand! It came together in less than 10 minutes and we were salivating waiting for it to come out of the oven and then cool.

    It was moist and tender and everyone loved it...our 19month old clammored for more!!!
