{Christmas Countdown} Advent Lunches 2014: Week 1

This week kicked off our yearly holiday tradition of #AdventLunches! Each year, I make Little Miss holiday theme lunches with a Christmas Countdown. I include the countdown number somewhere in the lunch, either written on a Lunchbox Love Note or made into a cute food item within the lunch itself. She looks forward to it every year!

Here's what we packed for week one of 2014:

Monday was the first of December, which started our countdown with 24 days left. To kick it off, I made one of Little Miss' favorites that she requests every year... Frosty the Bagel

As I mentioned above, this is one I've made her the past couple years. Here we used an Udi's gluten, dairy, nut, & soy free bagel. The mouth is Enjoy Life Foods Mini Chips, carrot nose, and raisin eyes. The hat is actually a cupcake pick stuck through the top. Also packed are organic carrots and apple slices in an EasyLunchboxes container.

I loved the adorable sandwich Little Nummies made, so I decided to create one for Little Miss' lunch with 23 days left. It was really simple to do just using heart shaped cookie cutter, a Sixlet for his red nose, and raisins for the eyes. We made it using Udi's gluten, dairy, nut, & soy free bread. It's filled with SunButter Sunflower Seed Spread & honey.

Tip: I put a dab of honey on the back of the raisins & Sixlet to act as "glue" so they don't fall apart on the way to school. I also use dabs of SunButter on the back of the sandwich part, again to act as a dot of "glue" to help the sandwich stay in place, as well.

She also had packed carrot coins, a zucchini tree cutout, and apple slices with an Elf cupcake ring in an EasyLunchboxes container.

Wednesday was a simple lunch, but Little Miss loved how her sandwich wrap looked like little presents. While I was making it, I had holiday music playing and on came Mary J. Blige with her version of "Favorite Things". As I was singing along, it seems so fitting with her little "wrapped up" sandwiches - one of her favorites. ;)

It's a Toufayan Bakeries brand Gluten Free wrap with turkey, ham, & mayo. Also packed were organic carrot sticks, with a Santa cupcake ring, and red seedless grapes.

With 21 days left, Thursday's lunch was inspired by one our Lunchbox Love Notes from the Christmas collection. I made a Christmas light bulb sandwich using Udi's gluten, nut, dairy, & soy free bread. It's filled with SunButter & grape jelly. I used the crust pieces to make the cap. Beside it are additional star cutout from our scrap pieces of bread.
I also cut out additional stars from her carrots and made an ornament apple slice with a umbrella handle food pick for the hook.

Friday with 20 days left, I made her another favorite from past years - A pizza bagel Christmas Wreath. It's made using an Udi's gluten, dairy, nut, & soy free bagel. Topped with sauce, cheese shreads, spinach leaves, and a sweet pepper bow. (I was out of red sweet pepper, so she got an orange bow instead, lol...) I also cut the countdown number out of carrot. Packed on the side is strawberry dices & blueberries in an EasyLunchboxes container.
