Little Lunch Lessons: Turkey Dinner! {Did you know?} #TuesdayTeachings
This being Thanksgiving week and all, I decided to have a little fun with our Little Lunch Lesson {Tuesday Teachings} for this week.
Inspired by one of our Thanksgiving Lunchbox Love Notes, Little Miss has a turkey dinner inspired lunch box for school:
Did you know?
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, approximately 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the U.S. at Thanksgiving.
That's a lot of turkeys!
Inevitably this time of year makes me think of my brother. Back when he was in elementary school. (He just got married last month, oy! I feel old.) He learned a song in grade school and would sing it nonstop. Funny thing is, I've found myself now singing it and teaching it to Little Miss. :)
Turkey dinner, turkey dinner, gather round, gather round!
Who will get the drumstick? Yummy yummy yum-stick.
All sit down, all sit down.
Corn bread muffins, chestnut stuffin', pumpkin pie, me-oh-my!
All of us were thinner, before we came to dinner.
Me-oh-my, me-oh-my!
(Sang to the tune of "Where is Thumbkin")
So, for lunch I made Little Miss an actual turkey shaped turkey sandwich (haha) on Udi's gluten free bread. Yes, I realize if you take the legs away, it kind of looks like Yoda - bear with me here. lol
The cute little chicken leg picks are from a set I bought from BentoUSA - I think it was actually one of the first pick sets for lunches I ever bought, come to think of it!
Also packed is a pumpkin shaped cupcake liner of organic corn and strawberries inside an EasyLunchboxes container.
Side Note: I found out this morning my friend Anna at Becoming A Bentoholic made a turkey shaped toast for lunch! And, um, hers is amazingly awesome! Check it out by clicking HERE.
I love that Turkey shaped sandwich! So clever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my lunch! I love yours as well!! Great minds ;-)
