Lunch Made Easy: The Wizard of Oz

School Lunch!

The Wizard of Oz
The new Oz movie is coming out and to celebrate, some of my lunch packin' buddies and I are making fun themed Wizard of Oz bento boxes.

This was even more special for Little Miss because just this week they went on a field trip to the symphony and they played 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' so she was quite ecstatic when I told her our lunch plans. She even sang while we were making it, hehe!

The new movie differs from the original, but since that's all Little Miss knows (that and the Veggie Tale version) we stuck to that.

Little Miss has half an Udi's Gluten Free Whole Grain bagel topped with cream cheese. I colored the cream cheese with food coloring and then dabbed additional to make the 'cloud puffs' for the rainbow

Above it are is the "C" badge of Courage that the Lion receives and the Tin Man's Heart Clock {because Little Miss makes my heart complete}.

She also has a yellow brick road spinach salad in the top right {the brick road is made of cheese}.

The top left is green applesauce to represent the 'melting' of the Wicked Witch. That's the top of her hat poking out. ;)
Her hat is made of chocolate.

Little Miss completed her themed lunch by wearing her Ruby Red Slippers to school today!

  18. I love that yellow brick (cheese) road. My kids are so into the Wizard of Oz right now. Did you know there are over 15 Oz books. Most of them are available on Librivox. We have been listening to them in the car and on our iPads.
