As I mentioned before, I always volunteer to bring dessert when we get together. My little sous chef (aka "little miss") gladly helped me put this one together. It was so much fun!
First things first - to compliment the idea maker: Bakerella
I was able to print the template for the fry holders on her site. Free download can be found by clicking *HERE* <--- blank template is on page 4. I simply saved as a jpeg and added the Wisconsin & State logos to make them gameday appropriate!
You can even enlist your sous chef to help cut them out. ;) lol
Now for the baking... here's what I used:
Make cookie mix according to the directions. Then spread it out flat like a cake onto parchment paper and bake. After cooking and cooled, I began slicing the cookie into strips using a pizza cutter. (See pictures below.)
Oh no, what to do with those uneven leftover edge pieces? SOUS CHEF TO THE RESCUE!
Now that my fries are sliced and my sous chef has graciously eaten all the leftover edges ;) it's time to assemble! TA-DA!!
Onto the cupcakes! Now, while I was assembling my fries, I went ahead and popped the cupcakes into the oven and then the brownies.
Once everything was cooled, I sliced my cupcakes in half (creating a top & bottom like a hamburger bun) and cut circular shaped brownies out with my circle cutter. (I found my set of circle shaped cutters at Hobby Lobby - included 3 different sizes for like $2-3, just an FYI.)
Here's what they're starting to look like!
By tinting my icing in individual bowls with food coloring, I was able to create red for ketchup, green for lettuce, and yellow for mustard. (Little Miss told me to leave the yellow off one for her because she didn't like mustard LOL I had to remind her that it's not really mustard! Too cute.)
Decorating the "Hamburgers" was my favorite part! Mostly because it doesn't have to be perfect. You just want it to dangle over the edges a bit to resemble a fully stacked hamburger like you'd get at a restaurant.
I filled a ziplock baggy with the icing (one bag for each color, obviously) snipped a corner off with my scissor and piped them on there.
Hehehe, I just loved this part because as they came together they were too darn cute!
So there you have it! Hamburger cupcakes & sugar cookie french fries! :)
Just too ADORABLE! Must pin so I can do this sometime!!
