The story begins with Junior Asparagus working at the HOP (House of Peanut Butter - I know, peanut butter, Little Miss and I always *gasp* at that part, lol) with Laura Carrot.
Junior wants to "get rich" quick but doesn't want to work hard for it either.
After quitting the HOP, he seeks the wise wisdom of Mr. O'Malley at the Treasure Trove Bookstore and gets swept away into a country adventure with Cool Hand Cuke (Larry the Cucumber) and Hot Hand (Bob the Tomato).
While there he works and sells the farms eggs to "get rich". After making the money, they head to the city hospital instead where they donate the money and spend time with the patients. Cool Hand Cuke juggles eggs, they dance, and Junior even makes everyone shakes to drink.
It's at the hospital he learns, it's not money that makes you rich... generosity does!
"Hands that don't want to work make you poor. But hands that work hard bring wealth to you." -Proverbs 10:4
We've done a fun (over-the-top) VeggieTales lunch before on KMGblog, but it's been long over due to make another. Especially considering how much Little Miss loves it.
For her sandwich, I made Cool Hand Cuke (Larry the Cucumber) out of Udi's Gluten Free bread. He's filled with turkey & Earth Balance Mindful Mayo. I used the crust pieces to make part of his sombrero .
His facial features are made from a Daiya Foods non-dairy cheese slice and decorated with a food safe marker. His nose is made from a balled up bread piece. I "adhered" the pieces to the sandwich using a dab of the Mindful Mayo underneath.
She also has packed carrots and apples, with fun VeggieTales character picks from the story sticking out inside her EasyLunchboxes container.

{Allergy Friendly} Lunch is gluten (wheat), dairy, soy, and nut (tree nut & peanut) free. Use a different bread brand to keep it egg free (& top 8 free), as well.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the Tuesday Teachings! And what a cute Bento! We love VT, but I don't think my girls want it in their lunch, unless it's at home.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the VT picks? I've looked all over for them and can't find them.
