In case you missed the previous two weeks, I've started a new series on the blog called Little Lunch Lessons {Tuesday Teachings}.
This week we're focusing on GIANTS and faith, with the story of David & Goliath.
As always, her school lunch is {allergy friendly}: Gluten, Peanut, Tree Nut, Dairy, & Soy Free.
The story of David & Goliath begins as David being called by God to be the new king. Saul had been king, but kept disobeying God, so He told Samuel to go to Bethlehem and visit Jesse, a man with eight sons. There he would find the new king.
As soon as Samuel saw David, the Lord spoke to him and said "He is the one". So Samuel anointed him with oil (the promised he'd be the new king) and from that day forward the power of the Lord was with David.
Fast forward... The Israelites (which David and his family were) were not getting along with the Philistines. One of them was a giant named Goliath.
Goliath was covered in armor and carried a big spear. He kept challenging the Israelites, for forty days, to find someone to fight him. If that person beat him, the Philistines would become their servants. If not, the Israelites would be theirs.
Three of the men old enough to fight Goliath were David's older brothers. David went to them with food and to report back to their father how they were doing. When he arrived, he heard Goliath challenging the Israelites, as he did each morning.
David asked "Isn't anyone going to stand up to this man?" When no one did, he decided he would fight the giant Philistine. David came and in one day knew what to do, and trust God would help him.
David went to a nearby stream and found five smooth stones, put them in his pouch, and with his sling went to fight Goliath. Goliath thought it was a joke and laughed at the young boy who came to fight him!
Reaching in his pouch, David pulled out a stone, put it in his slingshot and hit him right between the eyes. Goliath fell with a loud thud right on his face. David had done it! He beat the GIANT.
We all face giants. Size doesn't matter. It's your FAITH that does. (Philippians 4:7).
Little Miss has a small and GIANT SunButter & honey sandwich on Udi's gluten free bread. I made David's sling from carrot pieces and the stone from a rolled up ball of bread scraps.
She also has packed carrot coins and a container of peaches (in my mind, I thought James and the giant peach, heh heh). All packed in an EasyLunchboxes container.
