I first dyed provalone cheese with food coloring to make Bob & Larry (oh and Mr. O'Malley's sideburns & beard).
Bob and Larry are stacked ontop of a turkey and cheese sandwich with no crust.
Beside the sandwich are two picks with cherry tomatoes and cucumber square bites on two picks.
Below the sandwich are some peas - because you can't forget about Philippe and Jean-Claude (the French Peas).
I made Laura Carrot out of a carrot and used squirt cheese for her blonde hair and pig tails. I used a blue food color pen to create her headband.
Since Mr. O'Malley is an Irish Potato, what better way to represent him than with potato chips! lol
As mentioned above I used dyed provalone for his beard, side burns, and bushy eye brows. I used gel icing for his glasses.
I created all the characters mouths and eyes with gel icing.
Beside Mr. O'Malley are some grapes to represent Ma & Pa Grape (even though they're green, Little Miss only likes the red kind).
And below are some VeggieTales fruit snacks.
What VeggieTale theme is complete without JUNIOR! So... I present Junior Juice Box! lol
I covered Little Miss's juice box with construction paper and created Junior. :)
There's also a little note I printed from the computer that reads "God Made You Special" and on the back I wrote a little note from Mama to her. ;)
Love it. I am new to Bento. What did you make the characters out of?
ReplyDeleteJust now saw that how you did that. Wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Not gonna lie - it took me an hour last night to put together, haha but it was so much fun! I hadn't pushed myself that hard before to be that creative and think "outside the box" with the food.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute bento and I love your crockpot cooking to! Thanks for sharing on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and your nice comments, Rina! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is more intricate than anything I had even considered. My daughter just started school two weeks ago, so I've only been making bentos that long. I haven't tried anything that took longer than 15 minutes yet, but that looks like something I'd like to keep in mind for a special day! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer! Mine are usually 15-20 minute ones too. It did take about an hour but totally worth it and completely fun to challenge myself to do!
ReplyDeleteI had to scan down the screen super-fast because my little guy came up and I just know that as soon as he sees this he'll totally forget that his lunch for tomorrow is already set and ready to go! SUCH amazing work! I can't wait to see more :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! It was a lot of fun to do.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! How cute is that!! You have one very lucky kiddo :)
ReplyDeleteSo Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments! :)
ReplyDeleteI just love this bento! So creative!!
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! My son loves veggie tales. I may have to copy you! I am pinning this for sure. I found you on the Bento Blog Network meme.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Super cute and all the little details are just perfect. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Everyone! :) This and my hungry caterpillar lunch are probably my favorite two I've done, ever.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!!! I really love this lunch. Thanks so much for linking it up to TGIF LInky Party. Don't forget to add my button or a link back on your blog or post so others can find the party too. I can't wait to see what else you come up with!
ReplyDeleteBeth
What a clever lunch. I have done many themes in Muffin Tin meals, but have never tried the Veggie Tales. I will have to try it sometime as a muffin meal or bento.
ReplyDeleteThat lunch looks amazing. No wonder your daughter was so excited.
ReplyDeleteThank you all :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, what a loving mommy you are so much work and effort. Little Miss will remember this for quite a while.
