The art and the practicality! I need to build my supplies up... and now with the school year ending, I might as well wait until it begin again in the fall before I really splurge. :)
That being said, I plan on placing an order for a few things after the weekend. SO EXCITED!
Below I'm not only going to post her lunch from today, again utilizing the recycled strawberry container she now loves (LOL) but also a Bento inspired dinner I made for her the other night.
This is the dinner I made:
Using some of my new picks, I diced her chicken nuggets up to make skewers out of them.
(I snagged my picks on clearance at Hobby Lobby for 71 cents for a pack of 12! They're actually cupcake picks.)
She also has a diced hardboiled egg, cottage cheese, and a 'Berry Butterfly'.
.............................................................................................................................
As mentioned above, today I utilized her recycled strawberry container again.
(See previous post here: Lunch Made Easy: Recycling Strawberry Containers)
I cut her sandwich into star shapes using my stainelss cutter.
I put them in a paper cupcake cup (since I don't have my real bento box yet, I'm using throwaways - for now - then I can use my silicon containers!)
I also gave her some blueberries and diced strawberries in another cup.
It astounds me how much can fit into such a small container!
I stacked them in two layers like a bento.
There's a small apple juice box, napkin, her sandwich cup, berry cup, some cheese cubes, chips, and a twinkie for dessert. :)
Can I say it again? I cannot wait to get her real bento box and really start being creative!
It's going to be so fun incorporating the "Silly Sandwiches" I was already making for her into new creations along with silly sides.
Keeley, I'm so glad you've discovered bento. I started this fall and haven't looked back! It's so much fun and I love providing my girls with environmentally friendly, healthy lunches. Have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Thanks so much Caren!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is the one that got me hooked. :)
It IS a lot of fun to do. My daughter has a peanut allergy so I make her lunch every day (to be safe) so I love being able to make her lunches special!
I really enjoy your blog, thanks for all your postings and for visiting mine! :)
Seriously, I just love seeing what you come up with!!! The butterfly is TOO cute! (-K)
