Little Lunch Lessons: The Story of Esther #TuesdayTeachings

Today starts a new lunch series on KMG Blog
{Tuesday Teachings} Little Lunch Lessons

My intention is to focus each week on a different Bible story, verse, or life lesson. Inspiration could even come from a Christian song.

I have felt compelled for some time now to share this new series - while sitting on the plane to NYC for the Mylan Summit a few weeks ago (post on this coming soon), it finally all came together in my head and I immediately started making notes. I'm so happy to share it with you, and most importantly, with Little Miss!

This week we are focusing on one of Little Miss' favorite books from the Bible: The story of Esther

Little Miss knows the book of Esther so well that I didn't have to be too literal in anything I put in her lunch other than reminding her of the lessons that can be taken away from Esther's journey.

Esther was an ordinary girl who became the queen. She did not tell the King about her Jewish family. The King's right-hand man, Haman, wanted everyone to bow down and kneel before him. Mordecai (Esther's cousin) refused to kneel down or bow before anyone other than God. Haman was so angry, he convinced the King to have all of the Jews in the land killed. Mordecai told her she must warn the King, but it was against the law to approach him unless invited. Esther had to be courageous - for her people. When she approached him, he was pleased and she told him of Haman's plans to destroy her people.

Because of Esther's courage, she saved all the Jewish people in her kingdom. The book of Esther teaches us that anyone, even an ordinary girl, can do great things.

Don't be afraid to stand up for someone or something when everyone is against you. It takes courage to do the right thing.

"And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" -Esther 4:14b

For Lunch Little Miss has a SunButter & Jelly sandwich on Udi's (gluten, nut, dairy, & soy free bread) in the shape of a crown to represent Queen Esther, with a heart in the middle.

She also has fresh cut corn and heart shaped watermelon cut outs.

I used one of the blank cards from our Lunchbox Love Notes set to write the verse and important things to remember about Esther and what she taught us.
